Similar to everything we do at Dana Energy, an internal employee-run club was an idea that came to realization with care and craft. It was an idea that was born out of our aspiration to build an environment that goes beyond the everydayness of office life; an opportunity for our employees to express themselves in areas of their interest and unwind with their friends and colleagues in a friendly and safe environment. It is an opportunity for the like-minded to explore and add further meaning to their work-life and go beyond the mundanity that often overtakes our lives.
This is, therefore, the story of Daal Club, which was first made up of smaller groups and clubs and later was combined into one single club for better integration and to boost the collaboration of the club volunteers.
As a first step, Momentum Club came into existence with its primary focus being the physical and mental well-being of the members. The events included various activities that resulted in creating a shared space for recreation and self-care. From group cardio challenges, hiking, and cycling, to running events and mindfulness workshops, Momentum laid the foundation for promoting an active and balanced lifestyle among our employees. The club also encouraged leisure and connection through fun activities such as mafia games and pantomime; activities that inspire both camaraderie and creativity.
Parallel to Momentum, Parenthesis Club catered to the artistic and literary inclinations of our employees. This club became a haven for those who found solace in art and literature. It organized book clubs and review sessions, movie watching and discussions, and even classes such as calligraphy. By providing a platform for self-expression and creative exploration, these events enriched the cultural fabric of our community.
Recognizing the broader responsibilities that come with privilege, social responsibility was added to the club’s activities. Through this new focus, Daal Club has initiated meaningful events aimed at giving back to society. From organizing clean-up events to gathering and donating books for children in less privileged areas, the club has sought to make a tangible impact on the environment and local communities. These initiatives reflect the values we uphold at Dana Energy and inspire a collective sense of purpose among our employees.
The integration of these three focus areas has made Daal Club a full-fledged well-being, creative, and socially responsible outlet. This itself is a testimony to our belief in providing an environment that nurtures holistic growth for our employees. With every activity, Daal Club seeks to remind us that work is not just about meeting deadlines and achieving goals but also about building connections, cultivating passions, and contributing to the greater good.
