On August 12, 2025, the Petroleum University of Technology in Ahvaz and Dana Energy signed a memorandum of understanding that goes beyond a routine administrative arrangement. The agreement represents a significant step toward linking academic knowledge with real-world experience in Iran’s oil and gas industry.
The ceremony was attended by Dr. Ghasem Zargar, Dean of the Ahvaz Faculty of Petroleum. The agreement was formally signed by Mr. Hamid Yousefinejad, HR Director at Dana Energy, and Dr. Mohammadreza Khosravi-Nikou, President of the Petroleum University of Technology.
Through this collaboration, the two parties aim to create a strong connection between classrooms and operational sites, opening pathways for talented students and graduates to gain hands-on experience on drilling rigs, offshore vessels, and in oil equipment manufacturing facilities.
The agreement outlines several joint initiatives, including:
- Establishing a Dana Energy office at the Ahvaz campus as a shared hub for research and training
- Creating a dedicated internship track within Dana Energy’s drilling operations
- Identifying and recruiting outstanding students for future opportunities in the industry
- Offering joint training courses and workshops, from soft skills and career development delivered by Dana Energy to specialized programs such as IWCF certification and safety training provided by the University
- Supporting industry-focused theses that tackle real-world challenges in the energy sector
- Organizing one-day site visits for students to projects, rigs, and manufacturing plants
This agreement in Ahvaz follows a similar memorandum signed earlier between Dana Energy and the Petroleum University of Technology in Tehran. Together, these initiatives are designed to enhance students’ academic and practical capabilities, prepare the next generation of skilled and innovative professionals for the oil and gas industry, and strengthen confidence in the lasting contribution of young talent to the country’s future.
