Dana Energy And UNGC, A Match Made In Heaven

The United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) is a United Nations initiative to encourage businesses worldwide to adopt sustainable and socially responsible policies, and to report on their implementation. They are a voluntary initiative based on CEO commitments to implement their principles and to take steps in supporting UN goals.

UNGC program was presented in 2011 at the First International Corporate Social Responsibility Congress held in Tehran. The event was attended by 150 participants representing business, the employers’ federation, academia, civil society and international organizations. Participants discussed how corporate social responsibility (CSR) can be promoted and advanced in the Iranian business community. The meeting was organized by the MAHAK, the Society to Support Children Suffering from Cancer, and was co-sponsored by the Iranian Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Mines.

Dana Energy join UNGC program in February 2016 with the mind set of not only committing and supporting the Global Compact principles, but to ensure that they take a significant part in shaping Dana Energy’s company strategy, culture and day to day operations and engaging and collaborating in projects that advance the broader development goals of the United Nations.

As part of Dana Energy’s participation, each year they agree on a set of activities known as Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are followed up on in the following year along with a Communication on Progress (COP). The four major principles of Human Rights, People, Environment and Anti-corruption have been covered in the COP with details on what steps were taken by Dana Energy to ensure they are implemented and how their outcomes were measured.
