Dana Energy Well Services Successfully Completes 3,600-Barrel Cement Slurry Pumping at Sohrab Oil Field

Well cementing operations at the Sohrab Oil Field were successfully completed through the engineering expertise of Dana Energy Well Services, despite challenging weather conditions and logistical constraints in the border area. The operation involved the successful pumping of 3,600 barrels of heavy cement slurry designed through precise engineering.

Launched in late last year during a period of severe weather and heavy rainfall, the project was one of the most challenging well cementing operations undertaken at the Sohrab Oil Field. It was completed successfully through the coordinated efforts of the company’s operational teams.

Despite significant limitations affecting transportation routes and the mobilization of heavy equipment in the border region, cementing operations for the 18 5/8-inch casing string, followed by the 14-inch and 13 5/8-inch hole sections, were carried out without interruption and in accordance with the project schedule.

Pumping 3,600 Barrels of Heavy Cement Slurry with Precision Engineering

The project’s statistics reflect the scale of the operation. During this phase of the cementing program, more than 1,000 tonnes of dry cement were consumed, resulting in the precise pumping of 3,600 barrels (BBL) of cement slurry into the well.

From a fluid engineering perspective, one of the project’s most significant technical achievements was the successful design and pumping of high-density cement slurries with densities of 118, 120, 122, and 140 pounds per cubic foot (PCF). The operation was delivered through close coordination between field personnel, support teams, and specialists from the Ahvaz Cement Laboratory, reflecting the technical capabilities of Dana Energy Well Services in executing complex well cementing operations.

Continued Operations on Dana 4 Rig

The successful isolation and securing of the 14-inch and 13 5/8-inch hole sections have paved the way for the continuation of drilling operations. The team stationed on the Dana 4 drilling rig has successfully overcome the previous operational challenges and is currently drilling at the bottom of the 12 1/4-inch hole section.

The successful completion of this phase highlights the integrated capabilities of Dana Energy’s business units, including Well Services, the Dana 4 Rig Management team, and the Sohrab Field team. Their coordinated execution enabled the project to overcome challenging environmental conditions while maintaining operational continuity and supporting the next phase of drilling.
