Successful Completion Operations in Two High-Pressure Wells

Dana Energy Oil Tools has successfully run completion string equipment rated at 5,000 psi in two wells at the Khartang Gas Field. The operation demonstrated the reliability of locally manufactured equipment under high-pressure conditions.

The Central Iranian Oil Fields Company operates the Khartang Gas Field, which was initially identified as a high-pressure field. Continued production has gradually reduced reservoir pressure to approximately 6,000 psi. Despite this reduction, well completion operations still require specialized equipment for high-pressure conditions. Industry practice would normally call for 10,000-psi-rated completion equipment in such conditions.

A Field-Specific Solution

In January 2026, completion operations on one of the Khartang wells began using equipment supplied by another manufacturer. Following the reactivation of the well, however, an issue with the completion string equipment prevented the operation from achieving the desired outcome.

At the same time, Dana Energy’s 5,000-psi completion equipment had already demonstrated successful performance in wells at the Khartang and Dalan gas fields. These results provided the basis for evaluating the equipment as a potential solution for the demanding conditions at Khartang.

To prepare the equipment for the specific requirements of the field, Dana Energy’s Oilfield Equipment Factory carried out a detailed redesign and customization process. The modified equipment underwent the required qualification tests. Additionally, workshop testing confirmed successful performance at pressures of up to 7,000 and 7,500 psi.

The results provided the technical basis for using the 5,000-psi-rated equipment in the Khartang well completion operation.

Two Successful Well Completions

The first operation was carried out on Khartang Well No. 4, where Dana Energy’s completion string equipment was successfully run, and the well was completed. Following well reactivation, the equipment’s performance was reviewed and all required tests were successfully completed.

Following the successful first operation and the client’s positive assessment of the equipment’s performance, Dana Energy carried out the second phase on Khartang Well No. 2 on July 2026. The team again successfully ran Dana Energy’s 5,000-psi-rated completion string equipment and completed the well. The team then reactivated the well and initiated flow. All performance tests produced satisfactory results.

The successful completion of two gas wells under demanding pressure conditions, approximately five months apart, represents a significant achievement for Dana Energy Oil Tools. It demonstrates the reliability of locally manufactured completion equipment and strengthens confidence in Dana Energy’s technical and manufacturing capabilities.
